  1. I really enjoyed looking at your plays and reading your book, Looks! Looks is one of my favorite books and I frequently check it out from our school library. I think I liked your book because at my school we have our own Meghan Ball but she has a lot of friends!

    • Thanks, Sydney, for your enthusiasm about the book. And I’m happy to hear that your Meghan is popular–that’s as it should be!

      • Thanks for writing a great book, it helped to open my eyes.

  2. Just finished reading LOOKS — wonderful book — I loved how the whole thing was poetic in your writing … such beautiful descriptions throughout, and just a great story!

    • Thank you so much for your comment–I’m so glad you liked the book, and I really appreciate your being in touch! –Madeleine

  3. I just finished the book Looks. It was amazing! I did a school project on it and got an A+. I was so happy! I’ve read your book at least three times and think it is sooooooooooo good.

    • Congratulations on your A+–nice work! I’m so glad you liked the book, too–it’s always easier to work on a report when you actually like the book you’re writing about. –Madeleine

  4. I am currently going to audition for UCLA’s theatre and television school. My modern piece will be one from your play “The Most Massive Woman Wins”!!

    • Cool! Break a leg, Sarah.

  5. Hi Madeleine!

My name is Vera Sirota and I am an elementary school teacher in NYC. I mentor a vivacious group of readers and writers. We read books that deal with the topic of body image for girls and we write about it, too.

I just read Looks and it truly grabbed my heart. I loved it! Your compassionate tone and observant eye are very much appreciated. We’ll definitely be reading it with the girls! We’ll let you know when we post a review.

Best wishes and keep us posted about your upcoming projects!

  6. Hi Madeleine!
My name is Elisa, I went to school in NYC and that’s where I got to know your work and it really touches me. I am back in Brazil now and I wanted to do The Most Massive Woman Wins over here. There is so much pressure to be skinny in Rio de Janeiro that clothing stores don’t even sell anything in sizes larger than 8. I would like to know if you give us your permission. We are absolutely in love with your play. Please reply! We are an all female group (cast, director, producer…) and we would love to have your blessing!
    Thank you!

  7. Ms. George,
I am a high school speech teacher, and I have a student interested in reading a selection from your book Looks for a high school prose competition. In the state of Texas we have a competition called UIL (University Scholastic League)Academics for all public schools based out of the University of Texas in Austin. For one of the prose categories, we must use an author that was born in 1960 or later. I would appreciate it very much if you could give us the year of your birth so that we could use that as a legitimate source for documentation purposes in order to perform using your book. Please let me know if you have other questions that I can help with. Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

  8. Hi Madeleine!
I’m in 7th grade and have recently read your book Looks. It was amazing and I just wanted you to know how inspirational it was. I used your book Looks on a school English project and received a high grade. I think out of all the books I have read, and I am a book worm, this is by far the best. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. loved the book thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Hi, I really liked your book Looks and I choose it to be my English project. I have to make an interview with you, where i have to answer my own question trying to see everything from yours perspective. I was wondering if you mind just answering one question?

Do the diffrent Characters in Looks, such as Aimee Zorn have a connection to you and your life?
